FASTING & RESET

Every January, I commit to a 40-day fast — not as a diet, but as a lifestyle reset. What began in 2023 as a way to lose weight became something far more powerful: a way to reclaim clarity, energy, and intention. Fasting taught me that constant eating dulls awareness, while deliberate restraint sharpens both body and mind. In a world that tells us to consume endlessly, choosing when not to eat is a form of leadership — over our health, our focus, and our future. I share more of this journey in my book REVITALIZED.

Every January, I commit to a 40-Day Fast. It is gruelling, and this is my second year doing it. My fasting lifestyle began in 2023, initially as a way to lose weight. It worked. I lost 30 kilograms and, more importantly, I have kept it off. What began as a diet has become a lifestyle.

Today, everything I eat is filtered through one simple question: Will this sustain my health?

Fasting is not just about losing weight. It is about allowing the body to clean itself. Old, damaged cells are broken down and removed, making way for renewal. That is why people experience mental clarity, improved energy, and emotional stability when they fast — the body and the mind are literally being reset.

Eating, on the other hand, has become automatic. We eat out of habit, boredom, stress, celebration, and comfort. Food has become emotional currency. We eat even when the body is not asking for nourishment.

Fasting brings awareness back.

My somewhat cynical analogy is this: Human beings stand upright to create.
Animals lower their heads to graze.

We were not designed to spend our lives feeding. We were designed to build, think, imagine, and contribute. You cannot eat and create at the same time.

Frequent eating keeps insulin elevated, which leads to insulin resistance, weight gain, and eventually diabetes. This is why constant grazing, what we now call “normal eating” is quietly making us sick.

So create an eating window. Let your last meal be at least two to three hours before sleep, because that is when the body repairs itself. Walk daily, it matters more than you think.
Eat real food, it does not have to be bland. Learn to cook well. Take a class if you have to.

Health is not complicated.
It just requires intention.
